No Better Way to Spend a Saturday

Chopped Dark Chocolate

Sweet Meltdown of Sinful Chocolate!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
with Dried Cranberries and Dark Chocolate Shavings

So, how do you make these?

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt

1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
½ cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup light brown sugar
½ tbs cinnamon
1tsp nutmeg
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
½ cup rolled oats
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup dried cranberries
1 section of Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate

Instructions:

Preheat Toaster Oven to 350ºF.
Prepare Baking sheet with a sheet of parchment paper.

On a small cutting board, finely chop the square of dark chocolate and set aside.

In large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Add in butter, sugar, and brown sugar and beat until creamy. Add in cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and egg, and beat until all ingredients are combined. Fold in (meaning add and casually stir in) the oats, chocolate chips, and cranberries.

Using your fingers, grab a chunk of dough and roll into a ball about 1 1/4 inch in diameter (a little smaller than a golf ball). Lay in rows along the cookie sheet, making sure they are spaced evenly with plenty of room to bake.

Sprinkle shavings of dark chocolate over the top of each cookie.

Place in oven and bake for 10 minutes (or until they are golden brown and are not doughy in the center).
Remove and let cool on a clean dish towel or cooling rack.

Now add some milk and watch a romantic movie while you indulge in Dark Chocolate!

**Hint: If you are on a tight budget, or you don't have the storage space to buy all the individual ingredients for cookies, you can always substitute all the dry ingredients for a mix! Don't worry, I won't tell anyone.**
